This paper studies the coupling of a mobility and a communication model in order to simulate vehicular ad hoc networks. Our discussion addresses large scale scenarios that places a burden on the interplay of both models. By means of analytical and experimental considerations we study the accuracy versus simulation runtime trade-off.
